Coping with death
How this relates to my novel?In my novel Never Let Me Go, Kathy the protagonist has to deal with the loss of her two best friends who she absolutely loves. This website is a great place to start and go to if you are coping with loss in your family. Not only does it explain how people feel but it gives great advise on how to deal with it. Death is a thing that you cannot escape, its just something which everyone will go through. But in my novel, this death is done by the school of Hailsham and you honestly cannot escape it. As soon as the kids enter Hailsham, their lives are set up to donate their organs to the point where they are unable to donate no more. Kathy had to experience her two best friends dying because they were going to die after their last donation due to the fact that they couldn't donate anymore because they were complete.
My social issue?
My social issue in the novel Never Let Me Go is coping with loss. Ruth and Tommy were organ donors and Kathy was a carer to the organ donors. Show would be the one helping the donors who have just done their donation and help them recover as much as they can. But after the 3rd of 4th donation, that's when Kathy knows that after their last donation she would not be seeing them. This is because they would die just giving a donations due to the fact that they donated so many organs from their body that they have nothing to keep them going. So every time Kathy had to cope with loss of people that she have never even met because she still cared for them and its hard having a job like that. Ruth and Tommy started their donations and all went well the first time for both of them. But at a point, Ruth was just becoming weaker while Tommy was still healthy in his donations. Kathy met Ruth before she past because she knew she wasn't gong to make it. All the 3 friends got together and just talked but after a few days Ruth was complete. Even though Tommy was doing fine he and Kathy knew that his donation would be his last. Which left Kathy to deal with it all her self, her days as a carer was done and in a few months she would be going through what Tommy and Ruth had been through. But this time she will be all alone until she has been complete.
